[Deprecated]Setup MySQL Server on a low memory VPS with Debian

If OpenVZ VPS comes with vSwap, just install it as usual and I’ve successfully setup MySQL Server on a 32mb one. However, if it comes with Burstable Memory only up to 128mb, click to read more.

First of all

Then it will request password for the root user
And it WILL fail

But do not press Ok too soon™, open another terminal

and add skip-innodb under the section [mysqld] to disable InnoDB‎. After that, press Ok and MySQL Server without root password will be setup. It is recommended to setup root password again
